Grants and Awards Committee

The Grants and Awards Committee is charged with the preparation and review of grant applications for such grants as funding will permit. (Bylaws Art. VI, Sec. 1i)  The type, number, and amount of grants given annually are determined by the Executive Board.

Duties

  • Recommends to the Executive Board the number and the total amount of grant moneys to be awarded.
  • Determines criteria for the receipt of awards.
  • Mails grant applications to the membership, no later than 90 days before the annual meeting.
  • Determines which applicants are to receive awards and the amount of the individual awards.
  • Notifies the grant recipients of their awards.
  • Announces the names of the grant recipients and presents them with their awards at the annual business meeting.

Policies

Purpose of Grant.  Grants shall be given for the Chapter's fall meeting.

Withdrawal of Grant.  Grants may be withdrawn for sufficient cause by unanimous action of the Committee.  Should circumstances prevent use of the grant by a recipient, the grant is to be given to the next qualified applicant. If no qualified applicants remain, the Committee may consider increasing the amount of each grant awarded.

Amount Per Grant.  The amount of each grant shall be based on round trip plane fare (supersaver fare or an equivalent).

Presentation of Grants.  Grants are presented to the recipients at the annual business meeting.  In cases of financial hardship, grants may be advanced to the recipient before the annual meeting.
