Nominations and Elections Committee

The Nominations and Elections Committee is charged with proposing lists of candidates for the Chapter's offices, as needed, and tabulating the results of elections, both regular and special. (Bylaws Art. VI, Sec. 1e)  No member of the Committee shall be a Chapter officer or a member of the Executive Board.

Duties

  • Nominates candidates for all Chapter offices.
  • Submits a list of candidates, together with their written acceptances, to the Executive Board by the last day of February. (Bylaws Art. II, Sec. 2)
  • Requests each candidate to submit a written acceptance and to provide biographical information.
  • Submits the candidates' biographical information to the Secretary for inclusion in the ballot mailing, and to the newsletter editor for publication in the winter/spring issue of the newsletter.
  • For special elections, submits a list of candidates to the Executive Board, no later than 30 days after the disability of, resignation by, or removal from office of the President or Vice President. (Bylaws Art. II, Sec. 3)
  • Receives and counts all ballots, and notifies the President of election results in a timely manner. (Bylaws Art. II, Sec. 2)
  • Destroys the ballots upon completion of the election, i.e. when the new officers have assumed their elected positions.
  • Maintains confidential working files which shall routinely be destroyed, unless the chair deems them valuable for succeeding committee members.
