Site Selection Committee

The site selection Committee is charged with recommending to the Executive Board potential sites for the Chapter's annual meeting. (Bylaws Art. VI, Sec. 1f)

Duties

  • Solicits invitations from libraries to host the annual meeting, from the appropriate geographical area; solicitations may be made to select individuals or by a general request published in the spring issue of the newsletter.
  • Recommends appropriate facilities in which the annual meeting may be held and the available dates for the facilities.
  • Submits the site selection recommendation to the Executive Board at the Board's meeting at the AALL annual meeting.
  • Announces next year's site selection and the date of the meeting in the summer issue of the newsletter.

Policies

Date of Annual Meetings.  The Chapter's annual meeting shall occur in the fall of each year. (Bylaws Art. I, Sec. 1)

Location of Annual Meetings.  The Committee shall use a rotational system of specified geographical zones when determining the site for the annual meeting.  The zones and their order of rotation are:

  • Zone 1 Alaska, California, Nevada
  • Zone 2 Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon
  • Zone 3 Montana, Utah, Wyoming
  • Zone 4 Canada, Washington
Alternate Meeting Sites. The Executive Board has the authority to alter the order of rotation of the site selection zones.

Requirements of Meeting Sites.  It is not required that a selected meeting site have members living within the designated  site, although having members within a reasonable distance is preferred.
