The Research Librarian is part of a team of lawyer-librarians who support student learning and faculty scholarship at the William S. Boyd School of Law and who otherwise contribute to the mission of the Law School in a variety of ways. All lawyer-librarians work closely with individual faculty members on scholarly research and interact with law students, undergraduate and graduate students, and members of the public.
Members of the law library faculty are expected to engage in substantive research, participate in instructional and outreach activities, provide reference assistance to students and other visitors, and contribute to the many activities undertaken at the Law School. Research Librarians are supported in their work by law student research assistants employed by the Law Library. Over time and as interests and needs are assessed, librarians take responsibility for particular aspects of Library services. We encourage initiative and innovation among Library faculty and staff; we encourage independence in developing projects; and we expect professionals to contribute to the mission of the Law School and the Law Library on a variety of levels. The Law Library is committed to being inclusive and open and to supporting the success of all students.
This is a tenure-track Law Library faculty position.
The Wiener-Rogers Law Library is the largest law library in the state; it serves as a resource for the local and state bar and the general public. The Library’s collections are diverse and represent the interests of a faculty engaged in a wide range of scholarship and committed to service to the community and the profession. The Law Library’s special collections include a large documentary film collection (nearly 3000 titles) and the archives of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association. As the only research-level law library in the State of Nevada, the Law Library plays an important role in ensuring access to legal information throughout the State. We expect all Library faculty to be service-oriented, committed to diversity and inclusivity, interested in innovation, and eager to contribute to an active department that serves diverse communities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.
