K&L Gates is seeking a Research Analyst to join our Library & Research Services team. This position is available as a fully remote or hybrid position, but the successful candidate must reside within commuting distance to any U.S. state where K&L Gates has an office. The Research Analyst will provide legal and non-legal research services, analysis and training instruction to all K&L Gates’ lawyers and staff. This position will work East Coast hours beginning at 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM EST.
Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Additionally, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality work product and customer-oriented service.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
This position is part of the Library & Research Services team, situated in multiple offices, and works collaboratively to serve lawyers and staff across K&L Gates’ global platform. This position reports directly to the Manager, Reference & Research Services, with additional oversight and advisement provided by the Team Lead, Research Analysts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Provide expert research and consultative services via a centralized workflow tool to lawyers and staff across multiple time zones.
• Conduct online legal and business research using resources including, but not limited to, Lexis, Westlaw, VitalLaw, Bloomberg and Capital IQ.
• Prepare and deliver instruction on research methods and resources to lawyers and staff on-demand, virtually, and in scheduled live sessions.
• Actively liaise and communicate with selected practice and industry groups to develop subject expertise and facilitate better and more proactive service delivery.
• Participate in available professional development opportunities and remain current on technological, professional and industry developments in librarianship.
• Present clear, readily digestible results, responsive to the question(s) asked, and in a timely manner.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
• Additional technical services tasks and projects may be assigned as needed.
• Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
• Qualified applicants should have a Master’s degree in library or information science, preferably with course work in law librarianship, and/or a J.D. degree.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research methods and all of the research tools to which the Library & Research Services department team has access to.
• Successful candidates will have an outstanding customer service orientation and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must have strong collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple and complex research projects, often on tight deadlines, while maintaining a fine attention to detail

• Work in fast paced environment with unscheduled interruptions.
• Carry out responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
• Occasionally work an adjusted schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.
• Operate in an office setting that is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment.
